At Home Wellness: Having an Indoor Bike owen, 02/27/2024 If you remember, SoulCycle was A HUGE part of my life since 2014. Once my favorite instructor/friend moved to London, I really didn’t go to SoulCycle my usual 4-5x a week. In turn, I stopped working out. I tried a lot of other workouts, and didn’t love them either. I really just enjoyed being on a bike at SoulCycle. I loved walking into a studio and feeling happy – seeing friends, getting a good sweat sesh in – it was great. When I started dating Nick, yoga naturally became a bigger part of my routine (Nick is a yoga teacher). He also really loves working out, so we did that together a lot too. Then COVID-19 hit us like a ton of bricks. Thankfully, Nick taught yoga classes on Instagram Live 5 days a week. I’d be in another room taking his class. It definitely kept me busy, active, and was an AMAZING way to relieve the stress of a pandemic. I think that might have been my saving grace from March-June. I also got really strong during that time. But, like most things, reality set back in and I was really missing being on a bike. Then I was introduced to MYX Fitness . In total transparency, MYX Fitness reached out to work together. In exchange for their product, I would post to Instagram + Stories. I still feel like I wanted to write a full review of the bike since 1. It’s an investment for you if you purchase and 2. I have A LOT of thoughts. So when the team did reach out, I was like 10000% YES. I didn’t hesitate. Spin was a huge part of my work out routine, I missed it SO much since the pandemic started. It was pretty much the only cardio I did — I’m really not big on burpees, jumping jacks, etc. I pretty much begged Nick to let me get the bike delivered to his apartment (hehe, sorry babe). When he agreed, I was SO excited for it to arrive. I was definitely impressed with how quick the delivery was after hearing nightmare stories about other bikes. Everything was pretty seamless: The bike came almost fully assembled — We just had to put the monitor on and unpack the weights. Ok, now let’s talk about what else I like about the MYX Fitness bike : Great classes, ranging from 10 minutes to 45 minutes Large range of classes — 10 minutes to 45 minutes Yoga, meditation, stretching, dance, etc. Instructors are great! Different levels of difficulty which makes it nice for beginners Fits in a New York City apartment! class breakdown There are four types of classes you can take — Bike, Floor, Mindful, and Cross Training. Like I mentioned before there are different level classes (1 being the easiest, 3 being the most advance). At the beginning, I pretty much stuck to level 2 classes for the bike while I got familiar with the instructors and types of classes. Since I’ve been doing A LOT of yoga, I was really pleasantly surprised to see all of the different types available (yes, there’s even yoga for indigestion). Whether it’s a floor workout followed by yoga, just a meditation before bed, or spin followed by yoga…there’s a combination that will work for you! Some of my favorite classes are the themed rides (like 90s Hip Hop). overall thoughts Since it’s looking like group fitness might not be up and running any time soon, I definitely recommend an at home bike. The MYX bike offers competitive pricing in terms of the equipment and then the monthly subscription (which I believe all other companies also charge monthly fees). The monthly membership is $29 — compared to Peloton at $39/month for the subscription. I think if you’re OK with working out at home, looking for new work outs that are constantly updated, and an overall great system…then MYX Fitness is for you. photos by allie provost Skincare Essentials
